Jessica

Hiya! I'm Jess, a California native passionate about storytelling through images. My photography journey began with a love for nostalgia, capturing cherished moments of my sisters and family members. At 16, I photographed a friend’s family reunion on film, which made me realize that this was my true calling. I photographed my first wedding a few years later and was completely hooked!

Pursuing this dream, I earned a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and have since dedicated myself to the art of photography. As an art director and freelance photographer, I strive to create beautiful, lasting imagery that connects with people profoundly. I find inspiration in the smell of first rains, the taste of delicious BBQ with a crisp Vetliner or Rose, and hiking along California's stunning coastline.

WHERE DO YOU FEEL MOST INSPIRED?

Organizing! I love a tidy space and get most inspirational while organizing my closet or dresser drawers. A clean space helps my mind, anytime I’m stressed or overwhelmed I take to cleaning to help me organize my thoughts.

IN WHAT HISTORICAL PERIOD WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE LIVED?

I’m obsessed with period piece dramas! Downton Abbey - yes please! Any and all Jane Austen novels that have been turned into series or films I’m here for it! I've been obsessed since I was young, reading novels and romanized about this era is one of my favorite pastimes.

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF PERFECT HAPPINESS?

I loooove to dance! I find I’m most happy dancing with friends and enjoying the moment. You can catch me on the dance floor with some sort of camera, either a Polaroid or digital, I’m always snapping away.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE EAST BAY HANGOUTS?

One of the reasons I moved to the East Bay was to have a backyard and to ride my bike on flat land ;) I looove our little wine spots throughout east bay some of my favorites are Hamerling Wines, Donkey & Goat, Oakland Yard, and soo many more!

WHAT IF I TOLD YOU THAT YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE RIGHT NOW?

I would say hell yea! I’m passport ready. I love traveling and try my hardest to do an international trip every year. Some of my past trips included Mexico, Amsterdam, India, and Vietnam, the next are South of France, Lisbon, and Japan.

Go-tos

TRAVEL

A love that was sparked in me at the age of 16, when I took my first trip to London. After that I was hooked. I have a goal to visit every continent by the time I'm 40. The next to visit is Africa!

CLIMBING

I started this journey four years ago. Climbing keeps me motivated to become better and enjoy the beauty in nature.

WINE

When I first moved to SF I worked as a bartender in an upscale wine bar. That’s where I learned my love for wine. I belong to a handful of wine clubs in Sonoma and Livermore.

STREET FOOD

Some of my most memorable and delicious meals have been on the side of the road.

YOGA

I feel the most calm when I’m stretching and feeling my body. I do weekly flows with my sister twice a week. It was something we forced ourselves to do and has become second nature.

SPARKLING WATER

Whether it's Perrier or La Croix I can never resist a cold fizzy drink!
